Who can apply?
- Active full duty law enforcement officers who have successfully completed field training and obtained state certification.
- Officers who resigned or retired in good standing within the past 2 years.
- Out-of-state applicants are welcome—must have their training verified and evaluated before background screening begins.
Qualifications
You MUST meet the following requirements before you can be hired as an Experienced Police Officer:
- .Must have current MPCTC certification or have been MPCTC certified within the last two (2)
years ; out-of-state applicants must have been certified within the last two (2) years. - Must be in good standing at current agency or have resigned /retired within the past 2 years in good standing.
- Must have a high school diploma, GED, or an appropriate equivalent.
- Must have a valid driver’s license equivalent to a noncommercial class C Maryland driver’s license.
- Must be at least 21 years of age at the time you submit your application.
- Must satisfactorily complete a medical examination.
- Must be a citizen of the United States.
- Must be of good moral character and emotionally stable, as determined by a comprehensive background investigation, psychological screening, polygraph examination, and periodic drug testing.
- Out-of-state applicants must have their academy provide the curriculum that was completed with the total number of hours, and a graduation certificate or proof of successful completion of the academy. Training must meet Maryland requirements in order to qualify for EPO processing.
