A Baltimore County Police Cadet may be responsible for:
- Field and administrative support functions
- Directing traffic, inspecting vehicles and issuing citations
- Providing arrest and warrant information to police officers
- Assisting with crowd control and special events
- Helping provide security at police facilities
A Baltimore County Police Officer may be responsible for:
- Performing general patrol duties in a vehicle and on foot
- Conducting investigations of crimes, incidents and events
- Identifying and determining solutions to community crime problems
- Providing security at police facilities
- Enforcing traffic laws and ordinances, investigating traffic accidents
- Directs traffic, inspects vehicles and issues citations

Specialized Units
After two years as a patrol officer, members are eligible to apply for specialized unit assignments, including:
